A type of beta-hydroxy acid that helps to exfoliate the skin. Like AHAs, it can speed up the shedding of dead skin. However, they differ in terms of their solubility. Glycolic and lactic acid are water soluble while salicylic acid is oil soluble — which means it can penetrate sebum and exfoliate the pores. This makes it effective against breakouts and blemishes such as acne, blackheads and whiteheads.
Also, salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties to soothe skin irritation which often occurs in acne-prone skin. Due to this, it is one of the main ingredients in the All-Rounder for blemish-prone skin.
